Disclaimer
Use SAMI's answers as a guide, not the final word.
SAMI is a free, community-run assistant whose answers are generated by AI. Please read how it works and where its limits are before relying on it.
A community project, not official iSAMS support
SAMI is a free tool built and run by EthanCorp for the iSAMS community. It is not provided, reviewed or endorsed by the makers of iSAMS, and it is not a substitute for official iSAMS support, your school's iSAMS administrator, or your MIS provider. “iSAMS” is a trademark of its respective owner and is used here only to describe what the tool helps with.
Answers are generated by AI and can be wrong
Every answer is written by a large language model using excerpts from a knowledge base of iSAMS guides (based on publicly available iSAMS support documentation) plus reviewed Q&A. SAMI is designed to answer only from that material and to say when something isn't covered, but AI can still misread a guide, miss a step, mix up menus, or be out of date — iSAMS changes, and your school's version, modules and permissions may differ from the guides.
Treat every answer as guidance, not instruction. Check it against what you actually see in iSAMS, and confirm with your iSAMS administrator before making changes that are hard to undo — bulk updates, deleting records, permissions, finance, or anything affecting many pupils or staff.
Not professional advice
SAMI only explains how to use iSAMS software. Nothing it says is legal, safeguarding, data-protection, HR, financial or educational advice. For those decisions, follow your school's policies and the appropriate professionals.
No warranty, no liability
SAMI is provided free, “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, including accuracy, completeness, availability or fitness for a particular purpose. To the fullest extent permitted by law, EthanCorp and the people who build SAMI are not liable for any loss or damage arising from using, or relying on, its answers — including lost or incorrect data, disruption, or decisions made based on them. You use SAMI at your own risk. The service may change, be limited (for example with daily usage limits) or be discontinued at any time.
Please don't share personal data
Ask about how to do something, not about specific people. Do not type pupils', parents' or staff members' names, contact details, ID numbers, medical, safeguarding or other sensitive information into SAMI — it doesn't need them to help you.
How your conversations are used
- Your conversations are stored so you can come back to them, and are sent to an AI model provider (OpenAI) to generate answers.
- SAMI's administrators can read conversations and ratings to check answer quality, fix problems and prevent abuse.
- Deleting a chat removes it from your chat list. Administrators can still see it for the reasons above.
- When you rate an answer, an administrator may approve that question and answer to improve the knowledge base. Approved Q&As can then help answer other users' questions. Email addresses and phone numbers are masked automatically before that happens; other details (such as names) are not — one more reason not to include them.
